i love sushi.
i've been craving it for ages.. but haven't been able to get my grubby little hands onto some!
well, i did eventually.. but it wasn't satisfying. two simple handrolls - one with tuna and cucumber, the other with some cooked crispy chicken.
not quite what i had in mind, but it was better than nothing right? it was also really badly cut .. i asked for it to cut and generally, a handroll can be cut into three neat pieces .. but they chopped it in HALF. it was also a very messy and unprofessional cut ..
so my sushi cravings is still unsatisfied ..
now i'm just going to blab about sushi: as you know, sushi is basically anything made with vinegar rice. there are various types of sushi; some of the common ones are listed below :
chirashi sushi is "scattered sushi". it is toppings scattered over rice in a bowl. toppings most commonly used is vegetables, it can basically be anything. Maki sushi is "wrapped sushi rolls", served in slices of 6-8 and has a wide diversity and allows for a lot of creativity. Nigiri sushi is known as "hand pressed" or "to grip"sushi, consisting of a blob of rice with various toppings and comes in a large variety of shapes. Then there is the Oshi sushi is "pressed sushi" created by pressing using wooden compresses. Sashimi however, is not included as sushi as it is just raw fish - it doesn't consist of the rice component.
sushi is often served with wasabi, soysauce [murasaki], ginger [gari] and various variety of drinks such as sake or green tea [agari]. not until recently, i simply ate my sushi with soysauce - lols, yes i liked to play it safe. but then i tried it with the ginger - at first the taste was a bit strange to me, but eventually i grew to like it! maybe next time i'll try wasabi too ..
the interesting thing i learnt was the reason for these certain accompaniments were for anti-bacterial properties. did you know that? it lowers the risk of food poisoning! also wasabi causes saliva secretion and stimulates our appetite.. interesting eh? while drinking green tea helps cleans the palette and prepares us for the next serve of sushi by removing the aftertaste ~
YUM -- looks so good :]

#.aLITTLEmorePERSONAL
-- step into my world.
life is full of unexpected surprises, some good and some bad.
it's funny how you don't appreciate the little things in life, the very simple things we take for granted every day, until it is suddenly taken away from you. then you realise how vulnerable you are. how vulnerable you've always been, just lured into a false sense of security.
the questioning begins: what's really important in life?
there are some days where i find it really hard to face myself. to look myself in the eyes - because i dont really recognize the person staring back at me. it's a complete stranger. someone who's not social, someone who'd rather be alone, someone who can't even smile at their own reflection. i've disappeared or faded along the way. i guess you can say my perspective on life has pretty much changed: i miss the little things like shopping, being able to go outside, opening a window for fresh air, smiling at my own reflection. i hate the feeling of paranoia that follows me, everytime i step out into eyes of others. i feel like i'm being stared at, scrutinized, curiosity running through their minds. i like to believe i'm still who i was before all this - but am i really? i might be able to fool others, but can i fool myself? maybe if i believe it enough ..
these past couple of months haven't been easy, but i'm getting there. the end of the tunnel is near and the sunny days are coming again..

#.underCONSTRUCTION
introduction to me - basically, i'm known to my friends as 'sarleh', aged seventeen, living in melbourne and currently studying year 12. my ethnicity is chinese and vietnamese. just like every other girl, i'm interested in shopping, reading, writing, kpop and kdrama. i listen to a lot of DBSK and big bang and have recently watched the kdrama 'my girl'. lols definitely one i would reccommended; though obviously predictable, its enjoyable nevertheless. i love sunny days; they're bright and cheerful whereas rainy days make me feel miserable -__-;
i've been pretty food obsessed lately haha especially with korean and japanese food. i've looked up a lot of recipes to try out too - my first attempt at cooking would be making kimchi soup and bibim guksu! lets hope i dont burn down the kitchen.. i admit, i'm not the best in the kitchen. quite useless actually haha but i'm willing to learn and that's the important thing right? i've been craving all this asian food too, like sushi, pho and yum cha. mmm gotta love pho - can't get enough of that stuff!
yum cha is also great too with all the varieties of dim sum and the occasional weird stuff that i dont like to eat such as chicken feet @_@
anyways, i think that's enough rambling from me.
much love xx

fashion.
growing up i went through so many phases as most people do. lol from flared jeans, to my baggy jeans and tight t-shirts that skim my stomach and show a little flesh. of course, i thought i was so stylish and cool. haha then came the skinny jeans - oh, i practically lived in those. comfort is my style, teaming it with cute flats or my beloved chucks <3> too [image to the right] - looks cute with her beanie, but i dont know about the skirt. lols a tad too short for my liking. but generally that is the style i've come to like. theres so many things on yesstyle.com as well ; heaps of cute clothings and accessories.. makes me want them so badly! >__>" so unfair!
i want to buy some new tote bags and a new wallet too. i have two bags from duchess and plan to buy more - haha start a whole collection with different colors and styles. their bags are so cute and can hold so many things!
also really into dresses at the moment :] the denim dress is so cute ~ ^^; i would buy it online but don't really trust buying stuff online. lol might be dodgy! all i gotta do now is find some shops somewhere in melbourne that sells this style of clothing..
